Former Falcons QB Matt Ryan Joins CBS’s NFL Pregame Show; Phil Simms and Boomer Esiason Bid Farewell

Matt Ryan replaces Phil Simms and Boomer Esiason on ‘NFL Today’

CBS’s NFL pregame show is undergoing significant changes as the network announces that former league MVP Matt Ryan will be joining “The NFL Today.” The departure of longtime analysts Phil Simms and Boomer Esiason marks the end of an era for the former New York Giants quarterback and the show’s longest-tenured analyst, respectively.

Ryan, who retired from the NFL last week after a successful career with the Atlanta Falcons, joined CBS Sports last season as an NFL game analyst and appeared in the studio during the playoffs and Super Bowl. His vast experience and success in the NFL make him a valuable addition to the iconic pregame show, which he is looking forward to contributing to its continued success.

Esiason had been with CBS for nearly 20 years and spent over two decades on the “NFL Today” set. He expressed excitement about continuing his work with CBS through his radio show on WFAN, which is also simulcast on CBS Sports Network. Reflecting on his new role, Ryan shared his appreciation for the opportunity and his enthusiasm for working with his new colleagues.
