Jets Keep Saleh, Douglas but Replace Performance Staff Members in Bid to Boost Offensive Line Health for 2024 Season

The Jets Implement Multiple Changes in Their Sports Performance and Science Department

The Jets have announced that they will retain head coach Robert Saleh and General Manager Joe Douglas for the upcoming 2024 season, but they have made changes to their sports performance and sports science staff. According to reports by Rich Cimini of ESPN.com, director of high performance Brad DeWeese, assistant director of high performance Robert Sausaman, and director of sports science Matt Sams have all left the organization.

The team’s website now lists Alexander Carnall as the sports science coordinator, but there have been no new additions on the performance side of the staff. However, it is important to note that the departures were not based on performance issues. Instead, General Manager Joe Douglas mentioned that the team’s significant injuries along the offensive line in the past two seasons were a concern. To address this issue, the team signed veteran tackles Tyron Smith and Morgan Moses to strengthen the line’s overall performance.

Keeping these players healthy and on the field will be crucial for the team’s success in 2024 season. As such, it will be interesting to see how well Saleh and Douglas can guide their team towards success with this new set of changes to their staffing structure.
