Red Team from Montessori School of Tracy Secures Victory in Science Olympiad

The Montessori School of Tracy Red Team emerged triumphant in the 38th Annual San Joaquin County Science Olympiad Competition A Division for third through sixth grade students. A total of 46 teams from 29 schools, including public, charter, and private schools throughout the county, participated in the one-day event held at McNair High School in Stockton.

Science Olympiad tournaments are interscholastic competitions that feature a series of individual and team events. Students spend months preparing for these events, which are modeled after popular board games, TV shows, and athletic games. The events cover a wide range of science disciplines such as biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, computers, and technology. Participants must demonstrate their mastery of science facts, concepts, processes, skills, and applications during the competitions.

The top six teams in the Division A competition were as follows: First place went to the Montessori School of Tracy – Team Red. In second place was Brookside Elementary School – Team Blue from Lincoln USD. Cordes Elementary School – Team Blue from Lammersville USD secured third place. Brookside Elementary School – Team White from Lincoln USD came in fourth place while Cordes Elementary School – Team Orange from Lammersville USD claimed fifth place. South/West Park Elementary School – Team Purple from Tracy USD rounded out the top six teams.

Overall, the San Joaquin County Science Olympiad Competition showcased the exceptional scientific knowledge and skills of young students in our community.
