Rome Health Expanding to Meet Growing Demand for Healthcare Services

Health initiatives in progress in Rome

Since 2019, Rome Health has experienced a significant increase in the number of patients seeking services. This growth has led to an increased demand for care in the area. In response, efforts are underway to improve health care services in the Mohawk Valley, with Rome Health leading the way. The $45.7 million project, which involves building a three-floor addition totaling 30,000 square feet, aims to address this need for more efficient and seamless patient care.

The new work at Rome Health is essential to meet the growing demand for care and ensure that services are provided at modern standards. The hospital’s Chief Operating Officer, Ryan Thompson, emphasized the importance of designing the space to improve efficiency and streamline the care process from pre-procedure to post-procedure. With the addition of new facilities, Rome Health aims to provide high-quality care while meeting the community’s healthcare needs sustainably.

Funding for this project comes from a combination of public funding and private philanthropy, with over $29 million contributed by the state of New York and $3 million from the City of Rome in ARPA funds. With nearly $44 million raised in total, Rome Health is close to reaching its fundraising goal for the capital campaign.

This project marks the fourth major initiative undertaken by Rome Health in the past four years, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing improvement. By providing high-quality care that is sustainable and in line with modern standards, Rome Health aims to continue serving as a vital resource for residents of Mohawk Valley.
