WhatsApp Enhances Security on iOS Devices with New Facial Recognition Feature

iOS devices can now use passkeys for WhatsApp login

WhatsApp has recently introduced a new feature for iOS devices called ‘passkeys’, which allows users to securely access their accounts using facial recognition, Touch ID, or a PIN. This feature was already available for Android devices and now iOS users can activate it in their account settings under the Passwords section. Instead of using a password, users can authenticate their login with biometric methods or a smartphone unlock code.

Instead of relying on one-time SMS passwords, WhatsApp passkeys allow iOS users to log in using Face ID, Touch ID, or a password. This provides an extra layer of security that prevents unauthorized access to user accounts and protects against potential attacks from malicious actors trying to steal passwords via SMS.

By enabling this new login method, WhatsApp enhances the security of its accounts and provides users with an easy and convenient way to access their accounts on iOS devices. With biometric authentication or a smartphone unlock code, users can ensure that their accounts are protected from unauthorized access.
